Watchet 1st XI v Barrington 1st XI 2010

Watchet Win at Home

It was third time lucky for Watchet 1st XI at the Memorial Ground last Saturday.

Barrington won the toss and decided to take the field.

Watchet openers Chris Sully and Adam Bishop started the innings in a positive and assured manner.

Sully was the first to be dismissed LBW and Philip Milton joined Bishop at the wicket and looked in fine form. He top scored with 34. Bishop was the next to go, caught behind. He was replaced by the in form Martyn Ketchen. Ketchen, never settled and was bowled for 7.

Andrew Martin, at the wicket after the fall of Milton, was joined by his father and together they put on 39 before Edward Martin was bowled for 39. Andrew Martin followed soon after caught in the the deep for 32. the other father and son combination of Martin and Ryan Strong (30 not out) then set about the Barrington bowling.

Martin Strong was replaced by Liam Woolgrove, who promptly hit his first ball for 4 and ended up 15 not out.

The Watchet innings closed on 191 for 7 at the end of their 45 overs.

After tea Watchet made steady in progess taking Barrington wickets at regulat intervals. Matt Lovell and Martin Strong took 3 wickets apiece. Andrew Pyne Liam Woolgrove took one each.

Watchet bowled and fielded well and Martyn Ketchen held a fine diving catch at short mid-wicket.

Barrington reached 167 for 9 from their 45 overs, giving Watchet victory and 34 points.
