Watchet v Teston

Played at the Memorial Ground 4th May 2007

On Friday Watchet secured a 47 run victory against touring side Teston in a twenty over friendly.  The home side batted first and started off slowly, with the visiting bowlers keeping a tight rein on the run rate.  At the halfway mark the score was 41 for 3, but in the latter part of the innings Watchet pressed on, and with Ryan Strong compiling a fine half century and his brother Jason striking some lusty blows in an unbeaten 38 Watchet closed on an admirable 136 for 4.

In reply the Kent side were unable to compete against some probing bowling, and fell some way short in the penultimate over, with only four batsmen in double figures.  Along with a suicidal run out Dominic Bowden and Nick Virgin got one wicket each, two for Andy Pyne and Matthew Bowden, and star with the ball was Chris Sully with 3 for 16.

Watchet: 136-4 (R Strong 51, J Strong 38*)

Teston: 89 (C Sully 3-16, M Bowden 2-24)
