Watchet 2nd XI v Taunton Deane "A" Played at The Memorial Ground, Watchet on Saturday 20th August 2005 Watchet 2nd XI went down by 69 runs at home to
promotion chasing Taunton Deane A but picked up a useful 16 points in
their fight to avoid the fourth relegation spot.
Batting first the Deane amassed 250 for 7 with David

Young Andrew Martin (right) picked up his first League wicket for Watchet by having the high scoring Edlin caught behind by Peter Manley for 76. The total was always going to be a high one for the young Watchet side to chase but they set themselves a target of 160-plus, which they archived to earn nine precious batting points. The visitors' field setting was geared to put pressure on the batsmen with close catchers and two wickets fell early.
Ryan Strong took the pressure in his stride to hit
his top score for Watchet with
Callum Knight left(20) and Tayler Maddock right (27) helped the score past 160 with some fine shots.
