Watchet 1st XI v Brent Knoll 2006
Watchet won their second Division Two game of the season as they sank bottom club Brent Knoll by seven wickets at home on Bank holiday Monday.
The visitors batted first and were soon struggling after Jason Strong
took a low catch of the bowling of Phil Sylvester from only the third
ball of the match.
Sylvester, right, went on to bowl 12 overs straight off taking 2 for 30.
Accurate bowling from Jason Strong saw him concede just five runs from six overs. Liam Woolgrove and Matt Lovell also bowled well. It was Norman Yaw, however, who claimed 4 for 23 with his slower pace, did the damage as Breny Knoll struggled to 112 for 8 off their 45 overs.
After tea Watchet openers Chris Sully and Adam Bishop gave Watchet a solid start, putting on 40 for the first wicket before Bishop was bowled for 13.
Sully looked in fine form as he scored a well worked 29. When he was caught and bowled Watchet only needed another 30 runs for victory.
That was accomplished in the 26th over with Jason Strong, left, top scoring with an unbeaten 36 .
Brent Knoll: 112-8 (P Hancock 27, J Isgar 20, N Yaw 4-23, P Sylvester 2-30)
Watchet: 116-3 (J Strong 36no, C Sully 29, L Phillips 2-33) |
