North Perrott 2nd XI v Watchet 2nd XI Played at North Perrott on Saturday 28th July 2007 Watchet 2nd XI visited relegation threatened North Perrott 2nd XI last weekend and came away with a surprise seven wicket loss. Watchet elected to bat first, and despite a quick-fire start were swiftly in trouble at 56 for 4 after a combination of good bowling, injudicious shot selection, and inspired fielding. Ryan Strong and Myles Jones then set about building a base to attack later on, but excellent line and length from former first-class cricketer Hartley Heard stifled any attempts at run scoring, and when Jones fell in the twenty-sixth over a second collapse happened, with the visitors losing three wickets for just eight runs, including Strong for the top score of thirty eight. Some lusty lower order shots, including one mighty six from Phil Sylvester, managed to get Watchet up to 126, some fifty runs short of a competitive total on a good track and large outfield. Pick of the bowlers for North Perrott were Heard and erratic left-armer Nick Bond. Watchet got an early wicket as Dominic Bowden picked up opener A. Robinson thanks to a catch from Jamie Milton, but a chancy thirty-two from Cook began to take the game away from Watchet. When he was caught by Ben Saddington at deep mid-off off Sylvester the hosts were already well on their way to the target. With Heard cleverly rotating the strike skipper Jason Bradley began to open his shoulders as rain began to pour down. He was castled by Sylvester just short of the finish line, as the score was overhauled in the thirty-third over. Watchet 2nd XI: 126 (R. Strong 38, H.Heard 4-25, N. Bond 3-25) North Perrott 2nd XI: 127-3 (H. Heard 47*, N. Bond 32, J. Bradley 22) Points: North Perrott 2nd XI 35, Watchet 2nd XI 9 Watchet 2nd XI Innings
