Kilve 1st XI v Watchet 1st XI

Kilve had the better of a rain affected draw against Watchet at Kilve with the match losing six overs due to rain.

Batting first Watchet made 199 for 9 from their 45 overs with their top scorer for the second week running being Philip Milton with a well constructed 59. Milton received good support from Matt Lovell who scored 43 and Chris Sully who scored 24.

The experienced bowling of Dave Cobb and Glen Manchip stopped Watchet scoring freely, in particular Manchip who was the pick of the day's bowlers taking 5 for 47. He also produced a stunning one handed catch at mid-on.

Due to the tight bowling Watchet felt they needed to bat their allotted 45 overs giving Kilve 39 overs to score 200.

Watchet attacked with venom but couldn't break through a determined Kilve top order, especially the inform Stuart Lloyd (who scored 64 in the earlier meeting between the two sides at Watchet) passed yet another half century on the penultimate ball of the game.

Matt Lovell's never-say-die attitude gave Watchet a glimmer of hope taking three wickets in four balls, but with Lloyd still there Kilve saw out the game.

The draw was a fair result as both teams made the effort to play through the afternoon showers.

With other matches being affected by the weather Watchet moved up the table to occupy second position.

Watchet: 199-9 (P. Milton 59, M. Lovell 43, C. Sully 2, G. Manchip 5-47, D.Cobb 3-45).

Kilve: 115-4 (S. Lloyd 50, G. Manchip 20, M. Lovell 3-25).

Points: Watchet 32 Kilve 9
