 Huish & Langport 1st XI v Watchet 1st XI

Watchet's promotion hopes took a blow after losing away at Huish & Langport by 100 runs last Saturday. This meant that Watchet fell back to third place in the division three table and giving Huish & Langport a fifteen point cushion in second place.

With some wayward bowling and poor fielding Huish & Langport raced to 50 for 2  off of nine overs. Once Phil Sylvester found his rhythm he became harder to score from, again finishing with fine figures of 2 for 27 off of twelve overs.

Sylvester was well supported by Matt Lovell but the rest of the attack were torn apart by Steve Paul who hit an excellent 101 before being well caught on the boundary by Chris Sully.

Paul Lewis, who put on 150 runs for the fourth wicket with Steve Paul, hit 81 before being run out after some good fielding by Andrew Pyne.

At the close of Huish & Langport's 45 overs they had amassed 251 for 5, meaning that Watchet would have to pace themselves well against a strong bowling attack.

Chris Sully and Adam Bishop made a positive start before Sully was bowled for 15 for the third time this season.

The find of the year for Watchet has been Adam Bishop, who again top scored with 44 before being caught in the deep trying to push the run rate along.

Once Clive Strong was caught for 31 and Steve Baker for 21 all hopes of victory faded as Duncan Shillabeer ran through the tail taking a hat-trick to finish the match in style with the home side deserving their comfortable victory.

Huish & Langport: 251 - 5 (S. Paul 101, P. Lewis 81, P. Sylvester 2 - 27).

Watchet: 151 (A. Bishop 44, C. Strong 31, S. Baker 21, T. Strang 4 - 40, D. Shilllabeer 4 - 28).

Points: Huish & Langport 35 Watchet 12
