Belvedere v Watchet
Watchet won their first away match of the season on Saturday and also beat Weston-Super-Mare side Belvedere for the first time.
Belvedere elected to bat first and made a steady start, reaching 40 off 12 overs before Matt Lovell claimed the important wicket of Chadwick.
Liam Woolgrove and Jason Strong, left, produced some good accurate bowling, conceding just eleven runs between them in a ten over spell during which Adam Bishop took a great catch off Strong’s bowling.
The strangle hold continued as Andy Pyne took the wicket of Mott for 44.
Once again Norman Yaw picked up four wickets at the end of the innings, including the hard hitting Tasker for 46, as Belvedere reached 203 for 8.
Watchet had done well to keep the home side to that total on their batting paradise of a wicket, but they needed a good start in reply as Belvedere are also a tidy bowling outfit.
The
fearless Adam Bishop gave them just that with a delightful knock of 44
from eleven overs before being denied a deserved half-century by an LBW
decision.
Chris Bishop was joined by Martin Strong, right, and they produced a stand of 60 from only nine overs, Bishop playing the anchor role as he had with his brother Adam before he too was out LBW.
Strong soon notched his second half-century of the season before he was caught and bowled for 74 with the score on 165 from 28 overs.
His was the last wicket to fall as Clive and Jason Strong saw Watchet home, Clive finishing on 34 not out and Jason 14 not out.
Belvedere: 203-8 (I Tasker 46, A Mott 44, N Owen 38, N. Yaw 4-46).
Watchet: 205-4 (M Strong 74, A Bishop 44, C Strong 34no).
Points: Belvedere14 Watchet 33
