1st XI Lose
Watchet's 1st XI travelled to Temple Cloud for their opening match of the season. Batting first Warchet scored 178 for 9.

Matt Lovell was first to go caught behind. Phil Milton joined Edward Martin, pictured right, Edward Martinand the pair took the score on to 98 before Milton was bowled. Martin Strong came in and played some positive shots before being bowled. He was replaced by Jason Strong who looked in fine form striking the ball well before being caught and bowled.

Immediately after reaching 50 Edward Martin was caught at cover.

The Watchet innings was helped with sensible batting from Ryan Strong and Taz Maddocks to reach 178 for 9 off of their 45 overs.

The Temple Cloud openers started off very aggressively but Matt Lovell took the first wicket with an excellent leg stump yorker.

Some indifferent bowling amd very indifferent catching allowed the hard hitting Temple Cloud batsmen to smash their way towards victory.

The introduction of Nick Virgin, pictured below, Nick Virgin soon saw Watchet attempt to get back into the match as Virgin snapped up 4 wickets in an excellent spell as well as a brilliant caught and bowled by Martin Strong.

Temple Cloud, however, managed to reach their target for the loss of six wickets leaving them victors by 4 wickets.

Stogumber to join The Somerset League
Stogumber Cricket Club will join the Somerset Cricket League in Season 2009. The Committee unanimously agreed that this club should be admitted to Division 3. The reasoning for this was that they are ‘on a par’ with Ashbrittle and Fitzhead.

Watchet Cricket Club play in the Shrubbery Hotel Somerset Cricket League.

Home matches are played at the Memorial Ground in Watchet, Somerset.

Watchet Cricket Club field many teams including a First Eleven, Second Eleven, Cup Eleven, Sunday Eleven, Midweek Eleven and Youth Elevens.
